The following information is relevant for parents of any student that plans to participate in a sport or activity governed by the Missouri State High School Activities Association (MSHSAA). Parents of those students should familiarize themselves with the information below.
The MSHSAA has amended their Constitution and By-Laws with regards to sports physicals. In the past, a physical dated on or after February 1 was good for the remainder of that school year plus the following school year. The new policy from MSHSAA makes physical examinations good for 760 days from the date of the examination. If your child has a physical on file with the school, it is good for two years from the date the physical was taken. Example – if the physical was taken on August 2, 2018 it will be good until August 1, 2020.
Plans are being made to offer a physical clinic within the school district in late July or early August. More information will be forthcoming in the near future when plans are finalized. We highly encourage our incoming 7th grade students to get a physical if they plan to participate in MSHSAA sports and/or activities. If a student gets a physical in June or July prior to their 7th grade year, they would only need additional physicals prior grades 9 and 11 to complete their participation in MSHSAA sports and/or activities throughout their middle school and high school career. Further, any physicals collected during the 2018-2019 school year can be used for the 2019-2020 school year and the 760 rule applies.
If you have questions about the two year physical please contact the BCMS activities office at 986-3184 or firstname.lastname@example.orgSincerely, BCMS Admin
